Healthy Brownie Batter Dip

I hope all of you had an amazing holiday! We had so many fun things to squeeze into the month of December but I am also pretty happy to get back into our normal routine. By January 1 I was ready for a break. Thankfully, I have an amazing husband who realized that and when our daughter went back to school on January 2 he took me on a date day. We went out to lunch, poked around some shops, drove with the intention of getting lost in the country and still made it back in time to pick our daughter up from school. Just that time away from the hustle and bustle or even the every day with my other half definitely started my year off right.

In addition to starting off the new year with a date day I also started the year off with a new devotional that is really helping me. If you are looking for something to help you kick start your weight loss this year, are looking for a bible devotional that is really good or just are looking to remember your boundaries you NEED to check out Taste For Truth by Barb Raveling. The author also has a Taste For Truth podcast for Christian weight loss. Seriously, my friends and I are doing it at the same time and keeping a text group together for accountability and it is making a huge difference in me.

After starting on this book and reevaluating all my boundaries I had a book club meeting with a dip party. I don't know if you've ever been to a dip party but they are pretty great. Everyone brings a dip and things to dip in it....we had chipotle chicken dip, taco dip, hummus, guacamole.... and I brought my Healthy Brownie Batter Dip with plenty of fruit, mini pretzels, graham crackers and cranberry sea salt crisps.

Before we get into the full ingredients I want to make one thing clear. Anyone who knows me will tell you I pretty much hate beans. I'm not a huge fan of the flavor but I can handle that. I really, truly hate the texture of biting into a bean. So when I made this after researching a bunch of similar recipes and saw every version used black beans for brownie dip I thought they were crazy. Fast forward to now and let me tell you that not only am I hooked but my husband swore it was coffee added to chocolate to make the dip and my daughter ate a ton as well. These are two of the pickiest people in my life and they couldn't tell it was beans either.

Ingredients:

1 can black beans, drained and rinsed

***if your beans are No Salt Added you need to add 1/4 tsp salt to this recipe.

1/2 cup sugar free pancake syrup

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup melted chocolate chips

In a blender add all ingredients except the chocolate chips.

Once everything is smooth, melt your chocolate and add it in.

Blend again so the melted chocolate incorporates thoroughly.

*** Trust me. If you add the melted chocolate before it's already smooth it will harden back up and not be completely incorporated.

Once everything is blended completely you can serve this with fruit, graham crackers, pretzels or anything else you can think to dip into it.

It will make approximately 2 cups of dip.

Everyone at the dip party and at my house loves this healthy dip.

If you make this for a party or even to snack on at home please let me know what you think! I love to get feedback.
